Fraternity Board Meeting Minutes in Seconds
Jan 28, 2015 –
The National Fraternity Board of Directors met in Oxford, Ohio on January 24-25. The Minutes in Seconds are a quick summary of the meeting.
- Selected Tim Gover as the 2015 Deltasig Lifetime Achievement Award.
- Selected Provincial and National Collegians of the Year, to be announced and presented at the LEAD Provincial Conferences.
- Placed Iota Phi (Cal State-Fresno), Delta Pi (Nevada-Reno) and Epsilon Phi (Cal State-Sacramento) on probation for 12 months until January 2016 for unacceptable behavior during Sierra Nevada Regional Initiation.
- 15-16 operating and special projects budgets were approved.
- Approved a budget allowing travel money for leadership to use under special circumstances, such as colony/chapter support or special initiatives.
- Approved 2015 Post-GCC Retreat agenda.
- Approved changes to the “Updated Website” CMP requirement under Chapter of Recognition, now requiring more details about chapter social media accounts and approval from each chapter’s District Director.
- Approved Pledge Education Program changes to allow better transparency of the Big Brother introductions to the pledges.
- Defeated proposals to fund committee chair travel to an annual Board meeting and provide discounted/free LEAD/GCC registrations for Tier 2 CDLs.
- Took no position on a bylaws proposal to replace current Alumni Development Committee with an Alumni Chapter Committee. (To be considered at the North Central Provincial Council meeting.)
- Took a position in favor of the North Central Provincial delegates approving a Ritual proposal to eliminate Part 1 so it can be debated for or against at GCC.
- Actions by prior mail vote:
- Approved removing references of the Provincial Community Service Initiatives from the Provincial Council meeting agenda, CMP and Awards so the Fraternity is able to focus on the national initiatives.
- Approved the Fraternity audit by Stephenson & Warner CPA firm.
- We will host an Alumni Forum at all future LEADs and GCC.
- Approved moving the “Risk Management Event” CMP requirement from Chapter of Excellence to the Accredited Chapter tier.
- Approved nomination process for a Distinguished Service Certificate—a member must now be nominated by a Board member.
