Delta Sigma Pi supports the cause of literacy, recognizing its fundamental role in personal and societal development. This includes traditional literacy, financial literacy, health literacy, and other forms of literacy.

With countless opportunities to promote literacy in communities around the world, your chapter can make a significant impact. Get in touch with local schools, libraries, and literacy organizations to find out how your chapter can coordinate a community service project to support literacy efforts. Some ways to assist include:

  • Organizing Reading Programs: Establish after-school reading clubs or summer reading camps.
  • Book Donation Drives: Collect new and gently used books to distribute to underserved communities.
  • Tutoring Services: Create a volunteer network to offer one-on-one or group tutoring sessions.
  • Family Literacy Workshops: Educate parents on how to support their children's reading at home.
  • Reading Events: Host storytime sessions or book fairs to promote the joy of reading.
  • Financial Literacy Workshops: Conduct sessions to teach essential financial skills, such as budgeting, saving, and investing.
  • Health Literacy Workshops: Provide education on understanding health information, accessing healthcare services, and making informed health decisions.
When you're logging your community service events in the Hub, be sure to include the total hours volunteered and use the following keywords to help us track our national service initiative activities:
  • Use #BookDonationDSP for book donation drives.
  • Use #ReadingProgramDSP for organizing reading programs.
  • Use #TutoringDSP for tutoring services.
  • Use #FamilyLiteracyDSP for family literacy workshops.
  • Use #FinancialLiteracyDSP for financial literacy workshops.
  • Use #HealthLiteracyDSP for health literacy workshops.
Let’s work together to promote all forms of literacy and show Delta Sigma Pi’s commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for all.
