Buttercup's association with Delta Sigma Pi started when she and her husband, Sidney, Texas-Austin, better known as Sparky, began attending Grand Chapter Congresses. Sparky and Buttercup endowed the Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Sparks Fund in 1981 to provide scholarships to Collegians of the Year at the national, provincial and regional levels. 

The Sparks continued to be involved with the Fraternity until Sparky's death in 1996. Because of Sparky's love of Delta Sigma Pi, Buttercup continued to stay in contact with the Fraternity, including attending local Fraternity events and continuing to make donations in Sparky's memory. In 2016, Buttercup made a transformational gift to Delta Sigma Pi to further support the Fraternity's premier educational programs.

Sparky and Buttercup remain Delta Sigma Pi's second largest donors, eclipsing the Sustainer Level of lifetime giving. 

The generosity of Buttercup has touched countless Deltasigs. Delta Sigma Pi is a better Fraternity because of the philanthropic commitment of Sparky and Buttercup.
