The Collegian of the Year Award is presented annually to the one outstanding collegiate member of Delta Sigma Pi who has exemplified the values and ideals of the Fraternity, and is presented on the regional, provincial, and national levels based on nominations from collegiate chapters.
The award recognizes an individual for their contributions, achievements, participation, and personal character. The member selected as the National Collegian of the Year represents all collegians by serving a two-year term on the Board of Directors. The National Collegian of the Year Award is the highest honor Delta Sigma Pi can bestow on one of its collegiate members.

The National winner serves as voting members of Delta Sigma Pi’s Board of Directors, representing the collegiate voice, for a two-year term. With great recognition also comes great responsibility—much of which can occur when the winner is transitioning from campus to career life. Board responsibilities can require several hours of time per week and sometimes requires travel that may be partially self-funded. It is important for members to know these responsibilities of the National Collegian of the Year before applying:
- Engage and seek feedback, thoughts, and ideas from collegiate members and communicate those viewpoints to the Fraternity’s governing bodies
- Attend and actively participate in National Fraternity events, including LEAD events, GCC and regular Board meetings
- Serve on the National Organizational Development Committee and other committees and task forces as assigned
- Assist in the development and implementation of an annual plan to educate members about the Collegian of the Year program and encourage their participation in the program
