Brothers Gather for Great Plains Regional Conference
Nov 17, 2015 –
OMAHA, Neb.—Brothers from five states gathered at the University of Nebraska-Omaha in October for the third annual Great Plains Regional Conference.
Fraternity leaders presented a variety of sessions to brothers from within the region and visitors from Minnesota and Illinois. Several ice breaker and networking activities allowed brothers to discuss new ideas and best practices of their chapters.
PGP Norm Kromberg gave an enlightening presentation on the history of Delta Sigma Pi Ritual. The attendees all had great questions about Delta Sigma Pi history that brought up interesting perspectives on how the fraternity has changed and grown. DD Jeni Kemnitz gave a counter-presentation specifically for pledges about the fraternity, what to expect as a brother, and hosted a question and answer session.
Great Plains RVP Jillian Gartner presented on risk management and expounded on why it is important to every brother in our fraternity. DD Jody Dierickx spoke about interviewing and finding your dream job. An alumni panel for collegiate brothers to ask about experiences in the fraternity and post-graduation careers included DD Chelsea Hayes; David Gulbrantson and Adam Katch, both Iowa State; DD Ellie Pelto, and DD Phil Kreznor.
In addition, the brothers at the Great Plains Regional Conference participated in Make A Difference Day. DDs Ellie Pelto and Chelsea Hayes facilitated the activity of writing thank you notes to our deployed troops through Operation Gratitude. Attendees all wanted to give back during the conference and leadership felt this was an effective way to do so.
Overall, it was a fantastic event that fostered learning about the fraternity, gave new tips on interviewing and job-searching, and gave the opportunity for the growth of brotherhood. Thank you to RVP Jillian Gartner and all of the brothers who assisted in making the event a success!
