New Grants for Collegiate Chapter Award Winners

May 26, 2022 – New this year, collegiate chapter winners of the Outstanding Chapter Award and the Outstanding Professional Activities Award will receive cash grants made possible by outstanding brothers.

The application deadline for all awards is June 1.  Both of these grants recognize the outstanding achievement in the areas of recruitment and professional activities respectively.  Chapters awarded grants may utilize them to continue advancing their work in these areas and continue to educate members of their importance within the “lifeblood” of Delta Sigma Pi.

The Bill Tatum Leadership Fund will provide a cash grant to an outstanding recruitment program from amongst the five provincial winners of the Outstanding Collegiate Chapter Award, as selected by the National Awards Committee.

The Bill Tatum Leadership Fund was established to honor William W. “Bill” Tatum Jr. who served as Grand President from 1975-1979. Bill has travelled extensively and devoted countless hours to serving the Fraternity in various leadership and educational roles. One of his more memorable endeavors was to provide collegiate members with the knowledge and expertise to attract, educate, and retain outstanding members. His recruiting seminars are legendary among multiple generations of Deltasigs. In terms of recruitment programs, Bill stated, “Without new members in the chapters, the whole alumni organization also soon ceases to exist…Commit yourself now to building membership in your chapter.”

The Boyd Professional Development Fund will provide a cash grant to the national and provincial winners of the Outstanding Professional Activities Award for a Collegiate Chapter.

The Boyd Professional Development Fund was established by Sean Boyd, George Mason (VA), and Andrea Boyd, California-Riverside.  While Sean was an undergraduate at George Mason, the chapter earned this award and Sean “found the process of earning the honors, and all the learning and development activities that went into it, to be invaluable to their own personal and professional development.”
