Alumni Spotlight: Gig Wright

Apr 20, 2015 – All week long we will be celebrating our alumni, and culminate with National Alumni Day, April 25.
To honor brother H.G. “Gig” Wright, Beta, a member who we owe so much to, we have highlighted the must-knows about him and his impact on Delta Sigma Pi.

• Born December 22, 1893
• 156th initiate of the Fraternity having been a charter member of Beta Chapter when it was installed February 7, 1914 at Northwestern University in Chicago
• Won the Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key
• Attended his first Grand Chapter Congress in 1915 and served as Beta’s delegate at the 1917 Congress
• Elected Grand President at the 1920 Grand Chapter Congress
• Was elected Grand Secretary-Treasurer (now Executive Director) at the 1924 Congress and established the first Central Office
• Established the standard accounting system and uniform Rituals, regalia and insignia
• Founding member of the Professional Interfraternity Conference (now the Professional Fraternity Association)
• Proposed the Life Member Program
• Instituted the Chapter Efficiency Contest (which has developed into the Chapter Management Program)
• Helped install 80 chapters during his service
