Lambda Tau Chapter Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Oct 15, 2015 – WALTHAM, Mass.—Brothers of the Lambda Tau Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi at Bentley University participated in the Making Strides of Boston event that is on track to raise $2.5 million.

In October, nine members walked with almost 40,000 breast cancer awareness  supporters along one of two courses to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. Brothers encouraged students on campus to attend the walk, and they sold pink ribbons to support breast cancer awareness.
The Boston event was only one of nearly 300 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walks that take place in October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the largest network of breast cancer awareness events—they occur in 48 states, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico.
By raising funds to support those touched by breast cancer, the Lambda Tau Chapter supported a pillar of Delta Sigma Pi--community service. This resolve to service resonated deeply with those who attended the walk, especially for those who were participating in an event of this nature for the first time. Participants walked among families and survivors in support of a cause that personally affected many brothers’ families. The event was fulfilling on many levels because it also provided a great opportunity for brotherhood bonding and camaraderie.
All of the community service events held by Lambda Tau represent more than just community service. They are opportunities that foster emotional growth and compassion while also promoting awareness on specific topics. Everyone, including the VP-Community Service, pours their hearts into the things that they do, and they enjoy every minute of helping and supporting others. Lambda Tau looks forward to attending and supporting individuals at the LUNGgevity Foundation’s Breathe Deep event and the MS Walk later this year.
