Arizona State Launches Alumni Mentorship Program
Feb 14, 2016 –
Gamma Omega Chapter alumni and Phoenix-Thunderbird Alumni Chapter members began working with collegians to help them achieve their career goals.
This program pairs upperclassmen with local alumni and alumni who are abroad to offer advice and guidance related to one’s career trajectory. It also allows the alumni to become more involved with the collegiate chapter. Mentors and mentees filled out applications that covered their majors, professional experience, reason for getting involved, and more in order to best match up the current 18 pairs of collegians and alumni.
The program requires mentors to be available on a regular basis. Together they are to assess the mentee’s career goals and devise an action plan on how to achieve those goals. The program kicked off with brunch at a local restaurant where 21 of the 36 members in the program were able to meet one another. VP-Alumni Relations Emilee Migray enjoyed seeing the diverse group of brothers come together and get to know one another.
The program may already have its first success stories with mentor successfully guiding their mentees to interviews with JP Morgan Chase and Bechtel. Through this program Brother Migray has seen how valuable alumni are as resources, especially in their experiences and connections. Next fall more collegians and more alumni will have the opportunity to apply and pair up with one another to make the Delta Sigma Pi network work for them!
