Deltasig Heads to Rio

Aug 03, 2016 – Brother Alexus Laird, Indiana-Purdue at Indianapolis, will be competing in Rio.
As a dual-citizen of the U.S. and the Republic of Seychelles, Laird will be swimming the 100-meter backstroke for the latter. Kappa Sigma Chapter initiated Alexus in 2014 and she finished her swimming career at Indiana-Purdue at Indianapolis as a multi-time school-record holder with numerous all-conference honors. Brother Laird was named to the Summit League Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence, the Summit League Academic Distinguished Scholar's list and IUPUI Academic Advisor's list.
Brother Laird is working towards her CPA and this trip to Rio not only fulfills a life-long dream, but it also allows her to honor the heritage of her late mother. Alexus visits her mother’s family in Seychelles annually and she'll be one of just six athletes from the Seychelles in Rio.
While she trains in Carmel, Indiana, and graduated from Kokomo High School in Indiana, the fans in Seychelles will be cheering for her too. They call her “Golden Girl” for winning races at the Indian Ocean National Island Games.
Congratulations and good luck, Brother Laird!
