When planned properly, service activities can be a blast to organize. Below are three simple but impactful ways to contribute on October 22 – without stressing yourself out!
Collect and Donate Items
Collecting items is a great way to help those in need. Be sure to contact the organization you are wanting to donate to in advance. That way you can get a "wish list" from them and collect exactly what they need! Here are some examples:
1. Hold a food drive for a homeless shelter, food bank or after-school program
2. Collect items to donate to a local animal shelter
3. Collect coats, blankets and boots for those who will be outside most of a cold winter
Donate Your Time Helping Someone
No kind gesture is too small. These activities are sure to make someone's day in your community:
1. Offer to rake leaves for someone who is unable to
2. Adopt a highway and commit to keeping your section of the road clean
3. Volunteer with the elderly at an assisted living facility
Donate Money
If your schedule doesn't allow you to donate your time, not to worry! Each alumni and collegiate chapter should designate a non-profit organization to support. Your chapter could make a financial donation to a charity that is important to members. Below are just a few examples:
1.
Ronald McDonald House Charities
2.
Delta Sigma Pi Leadership Foundation - donate now to participate in the
Buck$ 4 Brotherhood Program
