Georgia Hosts Third Annual B.O.L.D.

Dec 09, 2016 – Pi Chapter at Georgia hosted its third annual Building Opportunities for Leadership Development (B.O.L.D.) event in September where students and well-known companies have the opportunity to network.

B.O.L.D. was established in 2014 as an initiative for professional development by then VPPA Martin Maignan. It was designed as a way to immerse all chapter members into networking regardless of major or year, as well as to advertise the Terry College of Business at Georgia to recruiters from companies in the area.

At the event, hors d'oeuvres are served and a series of short roundtable discussions are set up allowing representatives from the business school the chance to speak with several different companies over the course of the evening. Companies may use the event as an opportunity to recruit or share information about themselves to students.

According to the current VPPA Jerry Nonaka, planning the event took hard work and detail over approximately four months. "Venue securing, date setting (we host this event before the career fair at UGA in order to leverage early networking), budgeting, ad-making, reaching out to companies, creating invite packages and other logistics took a lot of detailed planning as well," said Nonaka.

Over the past three years B.O.L.D. has welcomed over 20 companies, including Deloitte, Aflac, Target, Cisco, Textron, Wells Fargo, Frito-Lay and more.
