The Deltasig Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to a member deemed to exemplify the spirit of Delta Sigma Pi by
their lifetime of service, support, or brotherhood, and Fraternity, business and civic involvement.
Brother Watton was initiated in 1972, and since then he has not stopped supporting Fraternity, locally and nationally. John started his alumni journey by working as a Chapter Consultant at the Central Office in 1975. Our new Lifetime Achievement Honoree
was actually one of the last consultants that lived in the Central Office before the second-floor bedrooms were converted into working spaces for staff!
As a consultant, John’s love for teaching and working with chapters grew as he coached students through best practices. “Over my time working as a consultant, I was able to visit a lot of chapters and meet people who I am still connected with
50 years later. I really enjoyed working with students and still do today. I like seeing brothers be successful and help chapters and the Fraternity grow,” said John.
John received his Silver Helmet in 1997 and his Golden Helmet in 2023. He served as a past District Director for Kennesaw State (GA), winning the Southeastern Regional District Director of the Year award in 1990 and 1994. He also served as Gulf South
Regional Director (now Regional Vice President), Southeastern Regional Director and different national and regional committee member roles. John has been involved in leading several alumni chapters over the years, including Kansas City, New Orleans-Crescent
City, Pensacola (FL) and most recently Atlanta, where he served as vice president-finance. He recently served on the Vision Statement Task Force and the Strategic Plan Task Force. A member of the Golden Council, he has provided countless hours of
“behind-the-scenes” work to the Fraternity including database research and cleanup of addresses and contact information.
In 1978, John attended the University of Central Missouri, achieving a graduate degree in student personnel administration. While there, he helped the founding of the Iota Omicron Chapter by providing extensive alumni support. He was also instrumental
in the development of Nu Pi Chapter at Kennesaw State (GA).
John has attended more than 70 national events including 22 Grand Chapter Congresses. He and his wife, Bobbi Blades, West Florida, are also strong supporters of the Leadership Foundation, recognized at the Entrepreneur level of giving and members
of the Deltasig Investors Roundtable and the Living Legacy Society.
Brother Watton has had an extensive career in the accounting industry. Professionally, he has worked and is now retired as the firm administrator at Saltmarsh Cleaveland & Gund PA and Smith & Radigan, CPAs.
When asked about his Lifetime Achievement Award, John said “I’m most excited to celebrate this honor. You don’t really set out to be recognized when you start in the Fraternity but I’m very pleased and humbled to receive this award.”
Congratulations to our 2025 Lifetime Achievement Recipient, John Watton! He will be honored at the 56th Grand Chapter Congress banquet in Palm Springs on August 9.
