Deltasig 2003 National Honorary Initiate Greg Jones
Greg Jones, senior vice president in California for State Farm Mutual Insurance Companies and president & CEO of State Farm General Insurance Company,was initiated as Deltasig 2003 National Honorary Initiate at Delta Sigma Pi's 2003 Grand Chapter Congress. Greg holds a bachelor's degree from Franklin University and master's degrees from Hood College and the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton Business School and will be a valuable asset to the Fraternity as an honorary Deltasig.
California is State Farm's largest market, and Greg oversees a workforce of nearly 7,800 employees and agents, with responsibility for all insurance operations in the state. He started his State Farm career in 1968 in the company's Ohio Regional Office in their Administrative Services Department. Following a number of promotions, he was named division manager in the Pennsylvania Region in 1983, executive assistant in the President's Office in 1985, deputy regional vice president in the Northern California Region in 1988, and regional vice president in the South Coast Region in 1993. He became vice president - California and president of State Farm General Company in 1998 and was appointed senior vice president in 2001.
Greg's community involvement started at an early age. He hosted a community service radio program, started a NAACP branch, and was chairman of a two million-dollar Community Action Agency before the age of 25. In 1990, he was the founder and president of 100 Black Men of Sonoma County in California and served on the organization's National Board of Directors.
Mr. Jones currently serves on the Board of Directors for State Farm General Insurance Company, Junior Achievement of Southern California, the California Chamber of Commerce, the California Business Roundtable, the California Education for Excellence Foundation, Franklin University, Los Angeles Sports Council, the Los Angeles Urban League, the National Urban League, and Operation Hope. He received the Empowerment Achievement Award in 1995, Dollars and Sense Magazine's Corporate Trailblazer Award in 1997, and the Anti-Defamation League's World of
 Difference Award in 1999. Mr. Jones was the 1999 honoree of the Watt's Health Foundation and is the 2000 honoree of the Insurance Industry Charitable Fund. He is listed in Who's Who of Executives and Professionals and has earned the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
