College can be challenging enough without having to worry about the financial burden of tuition, room and board, books, and meal plans.
Our partner GEICO recently helped to lighten that load for 36 deserving students through the GEICO Achievement Awards Program. Students can use the awards for anything from tuition, room and board, books, meal plans, and other school-related expenses. Two of the 36 students who received awards were Deltasigs, Brothers Shah and Sheets, who will each receive $2,500 for their outstanding academic accomplishments and campus leadership.
Neil is a junior, studying finance and accounting at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business honors program. He is also a Delta Sigma Pi Rising Star Awardee for Alpha Pi Chapter.
“I was incredibly happy when I learned that I had been selected for the GEICO Achievement Award and feel extremely blessed to be given this opportunity,” Neil explained. “This scholarship money will help relieve the financial burden of paying for an out-of-state university tuition and will open doors for me to broaden my horizons.”
Alexis is double majoring in Human Resource Management and Risk Management and Insurance, with a minor in Organizational Communication. She is also a junior and is actively involved on-campus as the president of the Society for Human Resource Management and the vice president-chapter operations for the Epsilon Xi Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi.
“I was honored to learn I had been selected to receive a GEICO Achievement Award,” said Alexis, who is also a member of College Mentors for Kids as a fourth grade mentor for local youth. “I will be using the award to cover the cost of textbooks and my upcoming study abroad trip to Europe in May 2017.”
More than 25 years ago, GEICO launched the Achievement Award program to recognize undergraduate students for their accomplishments inside the classroom, around campus and in their communities.
“The Achievement Awards program is a GEICO tradition that we are proud to uphold in support of outstanding undergraduate students across the country," said Bill Roberts, GEICO president and chief operating officer. "Each one of this year's recipients has proven that they have what it takes to be among the next generation of great leaders.
