Tom was honored with the 2023 Drake University Young Alumni Loyalty Award earlier this spring for his service as chair of the Central Iowa Drake Alumni Community and involvement in the University’s President’s Circle and Drake’s alumni choir.

For Florian, it’s “once a bulldog, always a bulldog.” He graduated from the Des Moines, Iowa university with a bachelor of science in business administration in 2014 and earned his MBA in 2016. At Drake, he worked as a marketing representative, assistant director of ticket sales & donor management and as in-game emcee at Bulldog basketball home games.

"I was incredibly grateful and appreciative to have been nominated for and honored as the Drake University Young Alumni Loyalty Award Recipient in 2023," he said. "My Drake student experience set the foundation for my life to this point, both personally and professionally, and I remain committed to serving my alma mater as much as possible."

Tom still finds time to connect with his Deltasig brothers and his Alpha Lota Chapter as a mentor, speaker and donor. “It is my hope that I can inspire the next generation of leaders to find joy, purpose, and meaning through their Drake and Deltasig experience," he said.

Tom has served in many different business and marketing roles since graduation. He currently works as a senior director of membership and strategic marketing with the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce, where he manages the implementation of organizational and special event strategic marketing plans. In 2022, Tom was an Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives 40 Under 40 Honoree and currently serves on the board for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation Greater Iowa Chapter.
